Nickel-Base Alloys: Alloy 625, 825 and C276 at a Glance

Where even stainless steel and duplex reach their limits, nickel-base alloys take over: in flue-gas cleaning, chlor-alkali chemistry, acid plants and the oil and gas industry. The best-known representatives are Alloy 625, Alloy 825 and Alloy C276. We show their strengths and typical fields of application.

Alloy 625 (2.4856)

Alloy 625 (material number 2.4856, NiCr22Mo9Nb) combines high strength with very good resistance to pitting, crevice and stress corrosion cracking. The material remains creep-resistant up to high temperature ranges and is used for flue-gas components, bellows, vessels and in aerospace applications.

Alloy 825 (2.4858)

Alloy 825 (2.4858, NiCr21Mo) is additionally stabilised with copper and titanium and is particularly resistant to sulphuric and phosphoric acid as well as reducing media. Typical applications are pickling plants, heat exchangers and components in oil and gas production.

Alloy C276 (2.4819)

Alloy C276 (2.4819, NiMo16Cr15W) is regarded as one of the most universally resistant materials of all. It withstands both oxidising and reducing media, wet chlorine gas and hydrochloric acid. It is used in flue-gas desulphurisation, chlor-alkali chemistry and with particularly aggressive process media.
